BASKETBALL FANS THERE IS NO OFF-SEASON

It's summer time in Toronto and the latest news from the Toronto Raptors is that they've signed Center Jacob Poetl to a long term contract. That's good news but not the most exciting news.

For Basketball fans watching someone hit a buzzer beater, or slam a highlight reel dunk is far more impressive. So what to do? Sit around and wait for the NBA to return in October?

It's surprising to me how many dedicated Canadian Basketball fans don't know that the CEBL exists. The Canadian Elite Basketball League is professional level basketball with 10 Teams. There are 4 teams in Ontario, 2 in Alberta, and 1 in Quebec, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. For Raptors fans in the GTA they've got the Brampton Honey Badgers West of the city, and the Scarborough Shooting Stars East of the city.

Players in the CEBL are looking to impress NBA Teams with their performance. In fact a number of players have been called up and signed by NBA franchises. Quite a few have moved on to the NBA G League. So on any given night you can see the future stars of the NBA in action from May through to August in the CEBL.

If going to see a game live is your thing. You will be pleasantly surprised when you see how reasonable ticket prices are. You want to sit Courtside for $100? Not a problem. If you search some secondary Ticket Apps you can occasionally find them for less. Maybe rethink your next date night and take in a game.

It's been my experience that some sports can only be appreciated live. Basketball is one of those sports for me. The atmosphere in the stadium is electric. The ebb and flow of the crowd rhythmically matches the action on the court. Unlike watching a game on TV you get a feel for what's likely to happen next. When you're right you actually picture a perfect alley-oop before it occurs.
