TORONTO — Bringing her invaluable experience from on the ice and behind the bench with the Union College women’s hockey program, the Toronto Six have re-signed forward Breanne Wilson-Bennett to a Premier Hockey Federation contract for the 2022-23 season. “I think this is a very exciting time for the women’s game and for the PHF,” said Wilson-Bennett.
“With the salary cap increase, the option to focus solely on hockey is now a reality. I could not pass up on the opportunity to fulfill my dream of being a full time professional hockey player. I can’t wait to see what we’re all capable of now that we’re able to commit ourselves completely to the game.”

Re-joining the T6 halfway through the league’s seventh campaign, Wilson-Bennett finished the season putting up six points in just six games by putting up five goals and one assist. She finished in a tie for fourth-highest in team goal-scoring, while alternating time skating on the top two lines. Adding to her growing list of achievements, which includes back-to-back Isobel Cup playoff runs in the club’s first two years, across 12 PHF contests, she’s tallied 10 points on seven goals and three assists.
Wilson-Bennett becomes the team’s eleventh signing, joining returnees Shiann Darkangelo and Emma Woods up front, defenders Taylor Davison, Taylor Woods, Saroya Tinker, and Lindsay Eastwood on defence, and goaltender Elaine Chuli between-the-pipes. Free agents Brittany Howard, Lexi Templeman and Carly Jackson have also entered the fold for 2022-23. The 26-year-old is one of 12 players to compete with the Six during both of the team's first two seasons, and so far joins Darkangelo, Chuli, Eastwood and both Woods’ as players in that
department signed for a third straight campaign.
“BWB brings it every night and every shift,” said Angela James, General Manager of the Toronto Six. “She’s a beaut of a person that the rookies will look up to, and the T6 looks forward to having her for the entire season this year. I can't wait to be able to see her play every night.”

Wilson-Bennett played her first professional seasons overseas with MODO Hockey of the SDHL in 2018-19 where she produced 20 points in 21 games. This followed four years of NCAA competition at Colgate University, where the Educational Studies and History graduate compiled 101 points in 147 games, registering 49 goals, while adding 52 assists from 2014-18. Displaying her offensive prowess in her first year of Division I competition Wilson-Bennett finished her 2014-15 freshman season as the program’s leading point scorer. Remaining within
the top five for three of her four collegiate campaigns, the left-handed shooter amassed 26 points as a sophomore, making her the program’s third-highest leading point scorer, while she also finished the year ranked second in the goals column. Being appointed assistant captain duties in her senior year, Wilson-Bennett put up career-high totals, while also finishing second in both points and goals respectively. That year, she amassed 41 points, tallying 19 goals and 22 assists in 41 games. The Markham, ON native adds past experience from the Under-18 Canadian National Women’s Team, where she secured a gold medal at the 2014 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship.
Ecstatic for the chance to live out her dream of competing professionally, Wilson-Bennett is looking forward to the league’s many advancements and facing heightened competition. “As a person living with type one diabetes the league’s full health coverage is huge for me. Not having to worry about astronomical drug costs gives me complete peace of mind,” she exclaimed. "I’m also just very excited to get on the ice and compete alongside some amazing hockey players. The growth of the league and the quality of competition is very exciting. Every game will be a battle and competition will be tough. It’s going to be a great season and I’m
honoured to be playing for the T6 again and representing my home city of Toronto.”
