TORONTO SIX MAKE NET GAIN WITH RETURN OF ALL-STAR ELAINE CHULI

TORONTO — Following a nearly perfect campaign in the crease, the Toronto Six have re-

signed goaltender Elaine Chuli to a Premier Hockey Federation contract for the 2022-23 season, her third with the organization.

“I just feel like we have unfinished business and I’ve had a great experience with the organization.... I’m happy to be a part of what we’re building with the Toronto Six and the PHF as a whole, so I’m just really grateful for the opportunity and I’m ready to go out there and win some games next season.”

Not dropping a game until the team’s last in Connecticut, Chuli finished Season 7 with a career

best record of 16-1-0, recording a .931 save percentage, and a 1.82 goals-against-average.

Trailing only Boston’s Katie Burt in the GAA category, she was named for the first time as a

PHF All-Star alongside the likes of six other Toronto Six invitees.

Shutting down Team Thunstrom 5-1 in the last game of the mini tournament, Chuli was

awarded All-Star MVP honours, as she helped guide Team Dempsey to an All-Star

Championship. Chuli was also a league leader in save percentage, with her .931 total ranking a PHF-best third,

just behind Burt and Minnesota’s Amanda Leveille.

Putting together back-to-back stellar seasons as the club’s starting goaltender, Chuli, across

25 PHF contests, has compiled a record of 20-2-0, while adding a .932 save percentage and a

goals-against-average of 1.77. Chuli was among 12 players to sign with the Six from the team’s inaugural 2020-21 roster.

Joined by Shiann Darkangelo, Taylor Woods, Emma Woods, Brooke Boquist, Breanne Wilson-

Bennett, Amy Curlew, Natalie Marcuzzi, Lindsay Eastwood, Mikyla Grant-Mentis, Samantha

Ridgewell, and Sarah Steele, the group reached the Isobel Cup Semifinals in Wesley Chapel,

where the Six fell 5-1 at the hands of the Boston Pride.

A fundamental asset to the history Toronto has made, Chuli sprung to the pro stage in 2017

after four years of college at University of Connecticut. Across four seasons, she became the

all-time saves leader for both the Hockey East conference and the Huskies women’s hockey

program.

Starting in 102 games, the now 27-year-old amassed a GAA of 2.93 and a .922 save

percentage. Awarded Most Valuable Player on three occasions, Chuli, as a Senior in 2016, was

named to the CCM/AHCA All-American Second Team.

Having built herself a name with five years of professional hockey experience, Chuli, with the

likes of Darkangelo, played in the CWHL, where she competed with the Kunlun Red Star and

Toronto Furies. The Waterford, ON native adds past experience from the Under-18 Canadian National

Women’s Team, where she secured a gold medal at the 2012 IIHF U18 Women’s World

Championship. Getting a chance to play a third season with the Six and further build on that success, Chuli is

excited to return to competition and have another chance to play for the Isobel Cup.

“Winning. I’m ready to get back in the net and win some more hockey games.”
