TORONTO — Adding international flare to the roster, the Toronto Six have signed defender Dominika Lásková to a Premier Hockey Federation contract for the 2022-23 season. Additional terms of the deal will not be disclosed.
“There are many reasons why I chose the Toronto Six. The main reason I decided to sign with Toronto is because when I first moved from Czech Republic to live my dream playing ice hockey at college and then pro, I started in Toronto. Two years ago, when I heard about making a new team in Toronto, I knew that when I graduated college, I wanted to play for them,” said Lásková.
“I believe that this team, even though it’s still new in the PHF, has high potential to be the best. And I can’t wait to put the jersey on!”

Lásková, a 25-year-old from Praha, Czechia, becomes the first player from outside North America to ever sign with the Six. The right-handed shooter joins the team after four NCAA seasons competing for the Merrimack Warriors where she recorded 31 points, tallying nine goals and 22 assists in 67 career games from 2018-22. She also represented Czechia at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, and will compete once again for her country this month at the 2022 IIHF Women’s World Championship in Denmark.

“I really like the way Dominika Laskova sees the game,” said Angela James, General Manager of the Toronto Six. “I think she is a true setup player, and she has the ability to slow down the game and be creative. I wish her luck playing in the Women’s World Championships with Team Czechia, and she has a home to return to in Toronto when she finishes there. Welcome to the T6 family, Dominika!”
As a junior at Merrimack in 2019-20, the Exercise Science graduate competed in 32 contests and produced a career-high 17 points with 13 assists, which ranked second on the team. Lásková was named an alternate captain in her senior year, and collected three points in 11 games. She completed her collegiate career in the spring, playing in 19 games as a graduate student where she recorded eight points on three goals and five assists, which included three multi-point-performances.
Her earlier experience with Czechia’s national team includes two trips to the World Championship in the top division. In 2021, she scored the most goals by a defender (4), and was named one of the team’s top three players. She also competed at the 2013 event, and in 2014 in Division 1A competition. Lásková was also a three-year member of the Under-18 national team, securing a bronze medal at the 2014 IIHF Women’s World Championship.

Lásková becomes the team’s 17th signing, joining Alexis Woloschuk, Nadine Edney, Courtney Gardiner, Kati Tabin, Emma Greco, Carly Jackson, Brittany Howard, and Lexi Templeman as the team’s free agent acquisitions to date, alongside returnees Shiann Darkangelo, Emma Woods and Breanne Wilson-Bennett up front, Woods, Taylor Davison, Saroya Tinker and Lindsay Eastwood on defence, and Elaine Chuli between-the-pipes.
Excited for the opportunity to pursue professional hockey in North America with the Six, Lásková is looking forward to getting back to where she started and making her lifelong dream a reality. “I always dream that I will be calling ice hockey my job. And thanks to the PHF I can live my dream,” she said. “There isn’t anything better than doing what you love the most and calling it as your work.”
