AN UNEXPECTED START - NBA 2021

Writer: Pro Sports PodcastersPro Sports Podcasters

The NBA has been active for a month, and things are not what most NBA fans predicted. Between draft picks, injuries, trades and moral issues - the standings after a month are slightly askew from what the general basketball fan would have predicted.

Let’s head out to the East. Most notably the Chicago Bulls acquired DeMar DeRozan. Chicago traded Thaddeus Young, Al-Farouq Aminu, a protected first-round draft pick and two second-round draft picks to San Antonio as part of the deal. He’s averaging 22.5 points a game, alongside Lonzo Ball and Zach LaVine, this Bulls team is really fun and exciting to watch. Currently sitting top of the table with a 4-0 record this season, let’s hope they can make Michael Jordan happy.

The Hornet nabbed another Ball brother, LaMelo, at number 3 in the 2020 draft. Proving to work well shacked up with Gordon Hayward and Miles Bridges this Hornets team has only suffered 1 defeat thus far and that was to Boston Celtics in an overtime winner. Fans better prepare for when the Bulls and the Hornets meet on the court on November 29th. A lot can change in that time; but if both teams are at full strength, this will be a game for the ages.

Over on the West coast (or best coast as some may say), leading the board we have none other than the Golden State Warriors. Still waiting for Klay Thompson to return from a 2-year injury layoff, this team captained by Steph Curry is 3-0 to start the season. Adding Wiggins to their team has been a clear help for the former champions. Averaging 19 points a game, Wiggins for sure sneaks around the defenders who are guarding such notable names like, Iguodala and Green. Most fans will agree that until Klay returns, the NBA has not seen the end of the Golden State Era.

The Utah Jazz is a unique situation provided they have only played 2 games. It’s hard to really say where they will end up coming to the end of the season, but if they manage to stay healthy, it’s fair to suggest that will make a strong run for the championship title.

Now, this next team has nothing to do with the leaderboard standings, but more so, how the mighty have fallen. The Brooklyn Nets are having an issue. Kyrie Irving does not want to get vaccinated and cannot play in the state of New York, so, no home games for him and thusly it has impacted the team. Currently 2-2, Brooklyn is unclear about what will happen with Kyrie’s future. Some sources say he will retire, others suggest he is okay not playing home games.

WHERE WIL THINGS GO FROM HERE?
